Now more than ever it’s important to support your local businesses. We commit to providing you with ethically-sourced, high quality coffee. For many of our customers a daily cup of coffee is an affordable luxury in an ever-complicated world. We make it easy to enjoy the highest quality cup of sustainable coffee. Let’s take a look at the ways we work to support small Canadian businesses with pride.

A Canadian Business with Canadian Heart

The Canadian Connection

We started roasting coffee in downtown Lethbridge in the early 90s. We import raw green coffee from all over the world and roast it in-store daily. Every year the volume of coffee we roast has grown as we continue to extend our reach. We now ship coffee right across Canada, with pride! As always, when you order coffee from Cupper’s you know that it is fresh-roasted. Part of our pride comes from focussing on ethical coffee. To learn about how we support small coffee farms, check out our blog post about it!

Cupper’s offers more than just amazing coffee. We also stock many Canadian made café essentials. We partnered with Metropolitan Tea Company in Toronto to supply world class tea. Our barista alternative milks are by Earth’s Own in Burnaby. We’ve teamed up with Le Chocolatier in Canmore for regular chocolate. We also partnered with Compass Chocolate in St. Albert, AB, to bring you chocolate from bean to bar. And we love our best selling Classic Confections, Whips Caramels, and Dipped & Drizzled. Based right here in Lethbridge, all their production is also here in Lethbridge. In truth, there are too many Canadian companies in our shop to list them all here (or to pick a favourite). When browsing our website check for the 🍁 to know you’re supporting Canadian businesses.

Rooted in Local Values

Supporting our community is one of our top priorities. We donate to many organizations that better our city and southern Alberta area. We work with the Lethbridge Public Library, Lethbridge Pride, CKXU, and more. Every Christmas, Cupper’s donates 300 meals to Meals on Wheels with our gift card campaign. We are also an official drop-off for Lethbridge Family Service‘s Angel Tree Campaign.

Separate from our efforts, Cupper’s also supports people raising funds for their organizations. We run an amazing fundraising program that helps not-for-profits all across Canada. You can learn all about the work our fundraising department does on our fundraising page.

The single best action you can take to strengthen your community is to support local stores. We always work to build up other small businesses in town. After 35+ years here we would be lost without the love and support we received from southern Alberta.

True North Values, True North Products

Empowering Women: Leadership and Representation

Cupper’s is a 100% women owned business. Our fearless leader, Donna, has worked hard within Lethbridge her entire adult life. She empowers all her staff to develop their personal and professional skills. As well, maintaining a gender-inclusive leadership team is a top priority for Cupper’s. We try to have the diversity of our community reflected in the diversity of our staff.

We carry many products from women-owned businesses. Looking for some amazing Canadian treats? Classic Confections, Dipped & Drizzled, Le Chocolatier, Compass Chocolate, and Whips are all women-owned companies. Prairie Chick Mugs and Cards are the brainchild of Albertan artist Crystal Pretula. Get crafty with felt sewing kits from Rita Van Tassel Studios from Nova Scotia. Unsurprising, they’re also Canadian and women owed. Grosche, a coffee brewer and accessory brand, is also a majority-women owned company. Don’t forget a treat for our furry friends – Benji’s Bakery is a female-owned, Lethbridge company!

We also work closely with the Café Femenino organization. They source coffee from women owned farms, and we buy our Peru Femenino coffee from them. We have been buying green coffee from the Café Femenino organization for almost 20 years.

The Cuppers Experience: Quality and Connection

At the heart of Cupper’s reputation lies an unwavering dedication to quality. Every cup represents a journey from origin beans selected with care, direct to your hands. We source our beans with care, prioritizing ethical farming and sustainable practices. Our roasting process blends the worlds of art and science. We tailor our roasts to each bean’s unique profile, unlocking its full potential. Interested in learning more about roasting coffee? Check out our post about The Ultimate Guide To Roasting Coffee.

Our brewing methods extract the most exquisite flavors. We only carry the best brewers for home baristas. To match these we offer a selection of single-origin coffees and blends that tell a story. Discover the difference this makes in our article The Beginner’s Guide to Coffee Beans.

If you ask any of our customers, the best part of the Cupper’s experience is the staff. With such a small and dedicated team we are able to focus on the needs of each customer who comes through our doors. We strive to build personal connections with customers who are coming in. To be honest, our staff cares about the individual customers in our store.

Our team is diligent about delivering our very best to every customer. We understand the importance each dollar makes to the local economy, and we are so grateful. Cupper’s has been operating for over 35 years because of our dedicated customers. And that, more than anything, deserves a BIG ASS THANK YOU.

Cupper’s works hard to build community and support Canadian retailers. We also highlight the efforts our suppliers are putting into green practices. You can help us by sharing this article and shopping Canadian. We can work together to grow local businesses by making small, intentional choices.
