Complete Guide to Moka Pot Gasket Sizes

Use this tool to find the correct gasket for your Bialetti Moka Pot.

Introduction

Proper maintenance of your moka pot will extend its life and keep your coffee tasting great. A part of moka pot maintenance is changing out the gaskets on a regular basis. Your moka pot will not work well (or at all!) if you use an old or improper sized gasket. The good news? Cupper’s Coffee & Tea has connected people to Bialetti products for more than 30 years. We carry a solid range of Bialetti gaskets for several models, styles and sizes. We also have a range of Grosche products as well.

How to Measure a Moka Pot Gasket

Before buying any gasket for your moka pot, it’s critical to be sure you have the right size. To measure your gasket, start with a ruler and compare your gasket to the chart below. We’ve linked the gasket info below to our store to make online ordering in Canada easy for you. While you’re at it, check out our huge fresh roasted coffee collection.

Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Espresso Maker, 6 Cup

“Moka Pot” is the generic name given to any stove-top espresso style coffee brewer. Bialetti Industries created the original moka pot and set the standard for the design. The Bialetti Moka Express is very iconic with it’s mustachioed man logo. It’s displayed in design museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

To use the chart first download the Bialetti Gasket Size Guide. Print it off at 100% size so it’s accurate. Use the ruler across the top to be certain the size of the print is accurate. Line up your old gasket with the guide to find out which size you need. And please feel free to share our gasket sizing chart with any of your Moka Pot friends.

What Size of Moka Pot Do I Need?

Moka pot sizes are measured in European style espresso cups, not standard 8oz cups. So a 3 cup moka pot does not make 3 full cups of coffee like we expect in North America. Knowing that, we made this easy-to-follow chart to help you choose which moka pot will be best for your needs.

Moka Pot Size Coffee Brewed # of People Served
1 Cup 60 ml 1 Person
2 Cup 90 ml 1 person
3 Cup 130 ml 1 - 2 people
4 Cup 185 ml 2 people
6 Cup 250 ml 2 - 3 people
9 Cup 410 ml 2 - 4 people
12 Cup 595 ml 4 - 6 people
18 Cup 800 ml 6 - 8 people

The amount of ground coffee used will depend on the size of your pot. The most important rule is never to compress the coffee in the filter. This prevents your moka from working as intended. Remember, it’s not a true espresso brewer, and you don’t want to test the pressure valve.

Have fun brewing with your moka. Enjoy the rich heritage and long tradition of this amazing brewer.
